About the Navigators


The Navigators, leaded by Prof. Paulo Veríssimo, started its activities at INESC, where they stayed between 1985 and mid-1996. During the past few years, it has been very active in research in the fields of distributed systems, fault-tolerance and real-time, having also produced a number of successful technology transfers (past history of the Navigators).

The Navigators team moved to the University of Lisboa Faculty of Sciences (FC/UL), and is now located in the Department of Informatics. Together with some new faces, part of the old team is at FC/UL: Paulo Veríssimo, Luís Rodrigues, Henrique Fonseca, António Casimiro. José Rufino and Carlos Almeida stayed at the Technical University of Lisboa (IST). Other members you knew left in the meantime.

The strategic objectives of the team are: state-of-the-art research in disciplines relevant to the area of distributed systems; interaction with national and international research institutions and technological transfer to industry.
