Abstract
Both Delta-4/XPA and MARS are distributed systems specially devoted to
the control of very demanding environments in terms of real-time
(timely and correct actions) and dependability (reliability and
availability). Each system has different approaches to the problem.
This paper presents, compares, and discusses the two approaches taken
by Delta-4/XPA and MARS, focusing on the options taken with respect to
real-time and fault tolerance.
